Our Latest Training Session at John Newman Hairdressing & Beauty

At John Newman Hairdressing & Beauty, we are passionate about training and keeping up to date with current trends and techniques. For our latest training evening, we split into pairs, decided on a theme and created a mood board based around the look we wanted to achieve.

Have a read about the themes we chose and click on the photos to view them.

Steph & Lily:

"Our theme was 'Parisian Chic'. We chose a rich deep brown L'Oréal Professionnel colour as our base with light caramel pieces, to create more of a unique look. To achieve this, we coloured the roots with our base colour and put in some Instant Highlights. Our model had a build up of red tones from previous colour therefore to neutralise this, we toned with a cool toner. To style, we created a soft wave using the GHD IV straighteners, which showed the contrast of colours. To finish, we added a small amount of Kerastase Elixir Oil to give great shine."

Jade & Megan:

"Our theme we chose was 'Summer Festival' as we could be very creative and it had a good colour palette to choose from. We enhanced and brightened our client's existing balayage, and toned the hair with a cool purple toner to remove any unwanted warm tones.

To style, we used Kerastase Ciment Thermique heat protection cream and sprayed the hair with L'Oréal Professionnel Pli. Once blow dried, we curled the hair using the GHD Soft Curl Tong. We styled the top of the hair into a double dutch braid ponytail and added texture throughout using L'Oréal Professionnel's 60's Babe Savage Panache."

Natalie & Lorin:

"The theme we chose was 'Colour Me French' as it is a popular trend at the moment and was inspired by L'Oréal Professionnel's recent marketing campaign with Alexa Chung. We chose one of the new L'Oréal Professionnel French Brown shades as our base colour then added balayage throughout using the Instant Highlights technique, as well as weaving sections of a lighter French brown shade through the ends. Once the colour had developed, we decided to use a toner to remove some of the warmth but still achieve the 'toffee' look that we wanted. We applied Kerastase Keratine Thermique heat protection cream to give frizz control before drying. To style, we waved the hair using the GHD Platinum straighteners and used a wide tooth comb to dress the waves out. We sprayed the hair with L'Oréal Professionnel Infinium hairspray to give hold and tame any flyaways."
